Events to inspire – Sydney

Being a reformed socially awkward networker, I now go to so many events and workshops around Sydney! In the beginning, I would go to everything and anything and my friend Oksana used to joke with me that I would go to the opening of an envelope. (it was true!)

This, however, is not very sustainable if you want to actually get some work done! Now I strategically choose a select few events and networks to be a part of. Typically, I will go to about one event per week and it is so great to meet new people.

People buy from other people they like and trust. You could have the best website or product in the entire world but if you’re not getting out there and building relationships, it is going to be a lot harder to grow your business.

Plus, it is SO much fun meeting like-minded business owners and brainstorming ideas! If you don’t believe me, read this.

So I have rounded up my favourite events/ clubs and meetups for fellow Sydney-siders below.

Business Chicks

I have recently joined Business Chicks as a premium member and I absoloutely adore all of their events. I saw Kate Hudson speak last month and met some gorgeous people at the event. I am also a big fan of their monthly networking dinners.

Like Minded Bitches Drinking Wine

If you are yet to join this brilliant facebook group, don’t delay another second! Filled with nearly 70,000 like-minded women, you can ask for advice in the group and they do brilliant meetups. I went to the Business with a Purpose event in March in the Clean Treats Factory and it was amazing. Check their website for events near you.

Rare Birds

Rare birds is a great business resource. They have great blogs and speaker events. They even do mentoring programs for women if you need a bit of guidance with your career.

Mentor Walks

I have recently joined this and I just love the concept. Meet inspiring women while getting to do some exercise – what’s not to love?!

Emerald Influence

Emerald influence is a womens leadership group set up by the Irish Australian Chamber of commerce. This one is great for anyone with an Irish background that wants to connect and share ideas with fellow women in business.

The Lansdowne Club

I recently joined the board of Australias premier Irish networking club. We have a famous St Patricks Day networking lunch every year that hosts nearly 2,000 business people in one room and is the biggest in the world. You do not need to be Irish to attend and we host monthly ‘PatChats’ featuring inspiring speakers from various industries.

Secret Foodies

This one is just for fun but you never know you might meet! Secret foodies was started by Alex Adams a couple of years ago to bring like-minded people together over what they love most – food! It is always a great day out and a chance to connect and have some fun.

There are so many great opportunities to learn and connect in Sydney and I hope I will meet you at an event soon! If there is anywhere I left out, please let me know as I am always on the lookout for great events and th
